In a chilling case from Gandhinagar, India, a 23-year-old woman has been arrested for plotting the brutal murder of her husband just three days after their wedding.
Payal Dantani, from Koteshwar, was in a long-term relationship with her maternal cousin, Kalpesh Chunara, and was reportedly unhappy in her marriage to 24-year-old Bhavik Chunara.
Bhavik and Payal had tied the knot on December 10, 2024, but the relationship quickly soured. According to Bhavik’s father, Kanhaiyalal Chunara, his son suspected his wife was dissatisfied with the marriage.
Bhavik had even confided in his father about his concerns before he left their home on December 13 to bring Payal back from her paternal home.
However, Bhavik never made it to Koteshwar. That same day, Kanhaiyalal received a call from Payal’s father, Suresh Dantani, informing him that Bhavik had not arrived.
When attempts to contact Bhavik failed, a search was launched, and his abandoned scooter was found near a temple in Koteshwar.
Witnesses told Kanhaiyalal that Bhavik had been struck by a white Innova car, after which three men forcibly dragged him into the vehicle, claiming to take him to the hospital.
Later, suspicions grew when Payal’s inconsistent answers led to her eventual confession.
Payal admitted to being in love with Kalpesh, whom she had been involved with for four years, and disclosed that she had only agreed to marry Bhavik due to family pressure.
Payal and Kalpesh had planned the abduction together. On the day of the crime, Payal informed Kalpesh about Bhavik’s visit, and Kalpesh, along with two relatives, abducted Bhavik.
They then strangled him to death and dumped his body in the Narmada canal. Bhavik’s body was discovered two days later, on December 15.
Following Payal’s confession, the police arrested her and the three accomplices—Kalpesh, Shailesh Chunara, and Sunil Chunara—on charges of murder, abduction, and criminal conspiracy.
The case has shocked the local community, with authorities vowing to ensure justice for Bhavik.
