The global superstar, Taylor Swift, known for her philanthropy as much as her music, is once again making headlines for her generous contributions.
The 34-year-old singer, currently on a break from her highly anticipated Eras Tour, is due to perform again on October 18 at Miami’s Hard Rock Stadium. However, her time off hasn’t stopped her from doing good, particularly during her U.K. tour dates earlier this year.
During her U.K. tour, Swift made several significant donations to local food banks, and Cardiff Foodbank benefited from her contribution which fed over 900 people.
Rachel Biggs who happens to be the CEO of Cardiff Foodbank was very much gratefull for Swift’s generosity that expressed her heartfelt gratitude towrds the pop star’s kindness.
According to Biggs, the pop icon’s donation helped provide emergency food parcels for 925 people. The donation was used to purchase “one and a half articulated lorries full of food,” an amount that played a crucial role in feeding those in need.
Cardiff Foodback took to their Facebook page a day ago where they shared an article from BBC and captioned it “We are incredibly grateful to Taylor Swift not only for her generous donation, but for shining a light on the global issue of poverty.”
Swift’s involvement didn’t end with a one-time donation. The charity confirmed that they had spent all of her contribution but are still grateful for the continued support from the public. They have called for more donations to ensure no one goes hungry in the Welsh city
The company added, “We have spent Taylor’s generous donation and are grateful to the continued support of the general public. As we head into the busiest time of the year, if you’re able to do so please donate food or money to help us make sure that no one in Cardiff goes hungry.”
This gesture wasn’t just a quiet one-off action by Swift. She had also been thanked publicly back in June when the charity shared a heartfelt message on Instagram. Referencing Swift’s 2014 hit song Wildest Dreams, the post included Swiftie-style friendship bracelets spelling out “Thank you Taylor, Love Cardiff Foodbank.”
Taylor Swift’s donations have not only had a positive effect in Cardiff, as she is also said to have made donations to other cities including Edinburgh and Liverpool.
Charity CEO Rachel Biggs told The Guardian in June that Swift’s donation “Will provide the weight equivalent to feeding 1,200 people three meals a day, for three days – or 10,800 meals. This will be 2.5 weeks of what we typically distribute,” she stated.
